The Project Need

Scientific instruments can be difficult to translate into memorable promotional products because their value often comes from highly specialized engineering and recognizable industrial design.

For this project, the objective was to transform the visual identity of the Krios 5 Cryo-TEM into a compact building block model that could work as a scientific gift, desktop display and interactive brand experience.

The Challenge

The Krios 5 has a distinctive enclosure, front workspace area and complex internal structure. A successful building block interpretation needed to preserve the recognizable visual character of the instrument while still creating a practical model that could be assembled from standard interlocking components.

The project also required a balance between exterior appearance, structural stability, assembly experience and presentation quality.

Our Solution

LHYY translated the Krios 5 reference into a 305-piece ABS building block model with a black, gray and green visual scheme that reflects the recognizable appearance of the original instrument.

The model includes opening dual front doors, allowing the completed build to reveal a multi-layered internal structure. Printed exterior details provide additional visual definition while keeping the model suitable for repeated handling, assembly and display.

The result combines scientific subject matter with an interactive assembly experience, making the model suitable for laboratories, conferences, exhibitions, customer programs and corporate gifting.
